Sponsorship Proposal · Confidential
Macethandile "Max" Kulati is a 2× IBFF World Disabled Bodybuilding Champion from Kariega, Eastern Cape. He represents the rarest kind of story: authentic resilience, genuine achievement, and a growing platform — all without a single rand of government or corporate funding.
Beyond the titles, Max represents a values proposition that is increasingly rare in sports sponsorship — authentic, earned, community-rooted, and media-ready.
Max's journey — from partial paralysis after surgery at 24, training with 2kg dumbbells in a bedroom in Moeggesukkel, to becoming a two-time world champion — is not manufactured. It is documented, verifiable, and deeply compelling to audiences across age, background, and income bracket.
Disabled bodybuilding is not officially recognised as a sport in South Africa. That means your brand enters a category with almost no existing sponsorship noise — maximum visibility, minimum competition, and the genuine chance to be the company that changed the story.
Max is a motivational speaker in Eastern Cape schools, a fitness coach in under-resourced communities, and a public voice for disability inclusion. A sponsorship is not just an advertising placement — it's a direct investment in one of the country's most credible grassroots role models.
In 2014, a medical procedure left Max partially paralysed. He was 22, living in one of Kariega's most under-resourced neighbourhoods, with no safety net and no clear path forward.
Four years later, he picked up a pair of two-kilogram dumbbells in his bedroom. Not in a gym. Not with a coach. Alone, with intention. He entered his first powerlifting competition in 2018 and won. He kept winning.
In 2021 he entered his first ever bodybuilding competition and was crowned South African National Champion — qualifying for the IBFF World Championships in Koper, Slovenia in the same moment. He won there too. And then again in 2023.
"I'm strong and able."
Without PR agency support, Max has appeared across print, digital, radio, and social media — organically. A sponsorship extends this platform significantly.
"Against all odds, I can do it." — Max's story featured as an inspiration case study reaching South Africa's disability and adaptive sports community. Print and digital distribution nationally.
